How to apply for jobs in 2020

The skills you need for the job are acquired from job shadows, internships, some attachments and mostly volunteering. Unless you volunteer, you won’t learn, and if you don’t learn, no experience and no skills to write about. The current tech world means that some soft skills, some tech skills like coding can be learnt from home, you just need a sample proof of what you have done before.

The market is competitive, you need to be doing what the other job seeker isn’t doing, prepare and get ready. Recruiters know that most cover letters or resumes are prepared by hired professionals, and they can spot them. If you do this, you better have the skills to back it up.

As pointers, before you apply for the job, here are 3 points that covers important things you should do before you hit submit.

1. Don’t Forget the “Why”

Why apply for the job? Why now? Often when we’re in the middle of detailing our career history, we forget the most important thing—the why. Why do you want to work for this company and why are you the best candidate for the job? If you can’t answer those questions, you shouldn’t be applying in the first place.

2. Review your application

You have one chance to apply for a job and make the best impression. Recruiters are flooded by mountains of job applications, so before you hit submit, give your application another look once over and make sure you’ve followed all instructions in the job posting. There are no second chances. You never want to reach out to a recruiter after you’ve applied to point out an error you made because you didn’t read thoroughly.

3. Clean Up Your Digital Media History

Before you apply for a job, check your internet history, what have you been positing? You should remove anything that could be perceived as inappropriate by a recruiter from your social media channels. Even your social media names and aliases are reason enough to deny you that chance.

Finally, you want to align with the right people, clean up your Linkedin profile and make it worth the recruiters taste and that all of your information is accurate and up to date.
